1. Introduction

Achieve and Shine Learning Center INC. is a special needs school that accommodates up to 12 students. We follow the Hardee County School District Calendar to accommodate students with siblings. 

2. Mission Statement

At Achieve and Shine Learning Center, we empower children with special needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through personalized education, we celebrate diversity, promote independence, and cultivate a community where every child can truly achieve and shine.

3. Admission Policy

Achieve and Shine Learning Center INC. admits students based on a thorough assessment of their individual needs and the ability of our staff and resources to meet those needs. We do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, or disability.

Grounds for Reversal of Acceptance

  • Falsification of information on the application.
  • Absence of a student for 5 days without notification from a parent/guardian.

4. School Hours

  • School Hours: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Drop-Off Time: Starting at 7:45 AM
  • Pick-Up Time: No later than 2:15 PM
  • Late pick-ups after 2:15 PM will incur a charge of $1 per minute unless the student is enrolled in the After School Program.

5. Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is essential for student success. Parents/guardians must notify the school of any absences as early as possible. Prolonged absences (5 days without notification) may result in reversal of acceptance.

6. Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

  • Students should be dropped off between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM.
  • Pick-up is between 2:00 PM and 2:15 PM.
  • Parents/guardians must sign their children in and out daily.
  • Late pick-ups will result in additional charges unless the child is enrolled in the After School Program.

7. After School Program

  • Hours: 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Enrollment in the After School Program requires a separate application and fee.
  • The program includes supervised activities and homework assistance.

8. Code of Conduct

Students are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly. The school has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and discrimination. Positive behavior support strategies will be used to address any behavioral issues.

9. Academic Policies

  • Specialized plans and goals are developed for each student.
  • A support plan for every student will be developed within 30 days of attendance.
  • Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled twice a year or as needed.
  • Progress reports will be provided quarterly..
  • Year end assessment will be conducted per scholarship requirement.

10. Health and Safety Policies

  • Immunizations must be up to date.
  • A health form must be completed upon enrollment.
  • The school has a strict no-nut policy due to allergies.
  • Medications will only be administered with proper documentation.

11. Communication

  • The primary mode of communication is email: achieveandshinelearningcenter@gmail.com.
  • Important announcements will be posted on our website.
  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to regularly check their email and the website for updates.

12. Inclusion and Disability Services

Achieve and Shine Learning Center is acting as a private school and therefore is not a recipient of federal funding through the Department of Education and as such is not required by law to abide by the IDEA or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 meaning a Parental Placed Private school student with a disability does not have an individual right to receive some or all of the special education and related services that the student would receive if enrolled in public school under Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) . However, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. Our staff is trained in special education and inclusive teaching practices, and we offer a range of services to support students with disabilities, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling.

13. Parental Involvement

We believe in strong partnerships with parents/guardians. Opportunities for involvement include:

  • Volunteering in the classroom
  • Participating in school events
  • Joining the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)

Achieve and Shine Learning Center follows the Hardee County School District Calendar to some degree. Please refer to our website for the most current academic calendar.

Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition: $12,000 annually. Parents are responsible for the full amount of tuition, regardless of scholarships and for the full calendar year.
  • Application Fee: $50 (non-refundable)
  • Supply Fee: $100 due by July 31st or upon entry.

Student Conduct Policy While we understand the unique challenges faced by our students, we expect all students to adhere to a code of conduct that promotes a positive and respectful learning environment.

Student Expectations Policy

  • Respect yourself, others, and school property.
  • Follow directions from all school staff.
  • Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
  • Use appropriate language at all times.
  • Stay in assigned areas unless given permission to leave.
  • No tobacco, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, vaping, or weapons on campus.
